[Khmer Times]: National Bank of Cambodia (NBC) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Monday, co-organised a workshop to strengthen consumer protection and financial literacy, aiming to promote responsible financial practices and improve access to financial services for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
The workshop, themed ‘Financial Climate in Cambodia’, was presided over by Yim Leat, Deputy Governor of NBC, and Miki Watanabe, Project Formulation Advisor of JICA, in Phnom Penh.
Representatives from banking and financial institutions, researchers and students attended the workshop.
Key participants included Men Pheakdey, Director of the Consumer Protection Department of NBC, Khemara Ros, Secretary General of the Association of Banks in Cambodia (ABC), and Sok Voeun, Chairman of the Cambodia Microfinance Association (CMA).
In his opening remarks, the NBC Deputy Governor emphasised the importance of expanding access to financial services for MSMEs, women and vulnerable groups, while highlighting the role of consumer protection and financial literacy in promoting the effective and responsible use of financial services.
