[Khmer Times]: The National Bank of Cambodia (NBC) and the Association of Banks in Cambodia (ABC) Thursday discussed key priorities for strengthening the banking sector and promoting sustainable financial development.
Chea Serey, Governor of NBC, received a courtesy visit from a delegation led by Rath Sophoan, Chairman of ABC, in Phnom Penh on April 28.
The meeting provided an opportunity for ABC to brief on the new composition of its Board of Directors for the 2026–2028 mandate, action plan for the new term, and to receive further recommendations from the NBC Governor.
Addressing the meeting, Serey commended ABC’s past achievements and offered several recommendations to enhance the effectiveness of its operations.
She stressed the importance of maintaining close collaboration with relevant institutions and authorities, alongside efforts to ensure the sustainable development of the banking and financial sector.
According to an NBC announcement, the discussion focused on key priorities, such as promoting the use of riel currency, strengthening the customer protection system, improving institutional governance, and reinforcing the code of professional conduct within banking institutions.
