Asia Microfinance Forum and Asia Network Summit from 04-08 August 2014, in Shanghai, China

From 4th to 8th of August 2014, Banking of the Poor (BWTP) organized two important events, Asia Microfinance Forum (AMF) and Asia Network Summit (ANS) in Shanghai, China.
AMF was successfully organized under the theme of “Financial Inclusion in Asia: Creating Dynamic Financial Ecosystems for the Poor”. In this opportunity, Cambodia Microfinance Association sent three participants, two scholarships were supported by the Foundation for Development Cooperation (FDC) and one was supported by Agence Française de Development to participate in AMF.

The Branch Network Meeting at Prey Veng Province

CMA conducted the Provincial Network Meeting on March 12, 2014 at Branch office of Sathapana in Prey Veng province with the total of 12 member’s participant who from 7 different MFIs (SATHAPANA, PRASAC, TPC, KREDIT, AMK, HKL and VisionFund Cambodia) and CMA. The meeting led by Mr. Khoem Sophy, Branch Manager of SATHAPANA and Chairman of CMA branch network in Prey Veng province. The meeting was discussed with below topics:

CMA conducted the provincial network meeting held on February 05, 2014 at Branch Office of ACLEDA bank in Takeo, with the total of 19 member’s participant who from 9 different MFIs (AMRET, SATHAPANA, PRASAC, TPC, KREDIT, CHAMROEUN , IPR, AMK, HKL), ACLEDA bank and CMA. The meeting led by Mr. Sok Sina, Branch Manager of Amret and Chairman of CMA branch network in Takeo province. The meeting was discussed with several topics as below:

Training of Trainers on Financial Literacy for Microfinance Institution

To Promote the Client Protection Principles for Microfinance in Cambodia

CMA in collaboration with PlaNet Finance held a Training workshop on the 9th and 10th August 2012 on conducting Training of Trainers on Financial Literacy for Microfinance Institution. A total of 31 participants from 12 member MFIs attended the event. .

Workshop on “Microfinance Sector in Cambodia and Labor Market” at Svay Rieng University

On June 03, 2014, the Cambodia Microfinance Association (CMA) collaborated with Svay Rieng University conducted workshop on “Microfinance Sector in Cambodia and Labor Market” which under presiding guest of honor as following:

  1. Mr. Loek Virak, Vice President of Svay Rieng University,
  2. Ms. Hoy Sophea, General Secretary of CMA,
  3. Mr. Lam Roviay, Training and Development Manager of CMA,
  4. Mr. Sem Souphoan, Representative of Human Resource Club of CMA and Head of Human Resource of HKL,
  5. Mr. Chann Ry, Branch Manager of HKL,

The Livelihood Study Tour from 4-6 March 2014 in Vietnam

CMA has assigned Mr. Dy Kunthea, Project Manager Assistant to attend the Livelihood Study Tour in Vietnam from 04th to 06th March 2014 with funding by Handicap International Organization. There are 27 participants from 4 difference teams that representative of Cambodia, Loa PDR, Miyama and Vietnam.
The lesson learnt from this event as following:

  1. Good Practices from AEPD in developing and implementing peer to peer support to promote socio-economic inclusion of survivors and other people with disabilities.

2011 SPTF Annual Meeting

The 2011 SPTF Annual Meeting was conducted in Den Bosch, Netherlands from 18th June to 23rd June 2011; there were more than two hundred participants who from donors, investors/lenders, rating agencies and microfinance network in the world and attendance by Her Royal Highness Princess Maxima of the Theater Netherlands.
